This song touches a topic which is too often overlooked: menstrual period. Coming from a track by Iulian, I wrote the lyrics during a day of terrible period pain. I couldn't think or focus on anything else, and decided therefore to embrace it: as women we are too often ashamed or embarrassed by the physical conditions that period can generate, and I wanted somehow to overcome this. Despite the dark and tragic atmospheres the song has, at least for as I see it, a sort of ironic touch in not using any euphemism in touching the topic. In my head I was thinking: "can our listeners be annoyed if I speak about this topic straightforwardly? Maybe. Well, you know what? I'll use no metaphors: there is blood, there is pain, there is no hiding in this song".
The song features a climax of violin layers recorded by Lucia Gasti, one of my long time friends and one of the strongest and most emancipated women I know.
lyrics
Down my roots are shaking
But my body is strong
I am suffering and aching
But I’m strong
Down my sight is blinded
But I still can hear
I am struggling and fighting
But I’m here
I am struggling and fighting
But I’m here
I am struggling and fighting
But I’m here
Down my sight is blinded
But I still can hear
I am struggling and fighting
But I’m here
I am struggling and fighting
But I’m here
I am struggling and fighting
But I’m here
I’m sinking in my blood
I’m sinking in my blood
I’m sinking in my blood
I’m sinking in my blood…
