about

[EN] "As soon as you close your eyes / The adventure will begin": these are the opening lines of "Rue St. Honoré", the title track of the debut EP by Les Belmondo, a post-punk trio born in 2021 hailing from Bologna and Romagna. The adventure begins pushing a way through imagination and harsh reality. "If it doesn't happen on the street / It's just literature" the next song reiterates, and it is no coincidence that it is called "Miller".
“Our story begins in those days at the end of the summer, between beaches getting empty, the first cold mornings, some daredevils who ride the last waves on a battered surfboard. Summers often go by and leave no trace, leaving us with the desire to stay close to each others. We warm up with some riffs, the assault against the boredom of another winter ".
But the sound of Les Belmondo plays against the usual melancholy. Fierce and fast post-punk that doesn't look back. It thunders with somber echoes of Birthday Party or Gun Club, and sometimes it is reminiscent of certain contemporary dark punk bands like Belgrade or Lost Tribe.
We suffer but "the heat will come back again". Also for this reason they have chosen the French language for their lyrics: to watch themselves from the outside, to distance themselves even from their own nostalgia and weaknesses. Les Belmondo are aware that they are "solitary walkers", as another title states, but they do not run away from the world. Maybe it's the world that wasn't made for them: "I would have liked men / Despite their hatred".
